CVMA Sends Letter to Minister Regarding the Development of Standards for Psychiatric Service Dogs
Mar 16, 2015
Last month Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) president, Dr. Jean Gauvin, sent a letter to the Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada, the Honorable Erin O’Toole, weighing in on the government’s recent decision to undertake the development of standards for psychiatric service dogs under the Mental Health Services for Veterans Action Plan.
While the CVMA is very supportive of this initiative, it cautions the government against any breed specific limitations and also calls for the use of humane training methods. Read the complete letter here.
