The CVMA is primarily a membership association for veterinarians.
CVMA membership is composed of veterinarians as well as veterinary students enrolled in the five accredited Canadian colleges in.
Other types of membership include:
- NEB Associate – National Examining Board (NEB) candidates seeking to obtain their Certificate of Qualification to practice in Canada.
- International Student Affiliates – Students enrolled in an AVMA-CVMA-COE accredited veterinary school outside of Canada. International students can join the CVMA as Affiliate Members for a nominal fee. VetStrategy offers financial assistance to International Student Affiliates who wish to have their membership fees paid for.

Accounts are still accessible to past members and those wishing to renew their membership. Simply reset your password and renew your membership in only a few minutes. We are happy to answer questions or to help with logging into your account (admin@cvma-acmv.org).

Students who graduate and obtain the Certificate of Qualification in Canada, or are members of the International Student Affiliate Program, receive a FREE CVMA membership for the remainder of the year until December 31 during their year of graduation.
Uninterrupted CVMA membership after graduation for a three-year consecutive period allows you to benefit from a 75%-50%-25% (YR1/YR2/YR3) tiered fee reduction rate, including all membership benefits and one complimentary CVMA Convention registration.
Members who are 65+ years old, fully retired from practice, and have a total of 35+ years of CVMA membership at the time of application can apply for Lifetime Membership. Complete the application for review and approval.
CVMA membership is based on the calendar year – January to December. Memberships purchased mid-year will remain active until December 31 of that year. Half-year fees are available after July 1 as a one-time offer. Contact us at admin@cvma-acmv.org for eligibility.
The fastest and easiest way to pay for your membership is by credit card via your portal account. The following methods of payment are accepted:
- Visa
- MasterCard
- Cheque – with CVMA application/renewal form completed and attached
Membership will be activated once payment is received if paying by cheque. Please contact us at admin@cvma-acmv.org or 1-800-567-2862 if your payment does not process online.
The Automatic Renewal Billing guarantees on time membership. Log into your member portal account, select the My Account tab, then My Profile tab, and select the Payment Information tab. Click Update Credit Card and enter your new credit card information in the required fields. Click Confirm to save your encrypted credit card information. Membership fees are charged on January 1 of each year and a reminder is sent to you 30 days prior.
Sign into your portal account, click on the My Account tab, then select the My Profile tab, and click on Contact Info tab. Enter your business address and/or residential address under the sub-tabs. Be sure to select your preferred address. Once you have updated your contact information, click on Update my Profile at the bottom of the page to save. The system may take a few seconds to record and fully save your information.
You can reset a new password at https://www.canadianveterinarians.net/login/. Click Forgot password? and confirm your email to receive a link. Clicking the link received in your email will bring you to a page where you can set a new password. Please do not create a new account if your attempt to reset a new password has failed. Please contact us at admin@cvma-acmv.org for assistance with a temporary password.
