WSAVA Releases Professional Wellness Guidelines

January 24, 2024

The WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) Professional Wellness Group (PWG) has created global wellness guidelines for veterinary professionals. The Group was formed to identify the extent of mental health challenges in the world veterinary family and identify and evaluate the resources most suited to preventing or alleviating these challenges. A range of wellness strategies are identified and encouraged to enhance the well-being of individuals and groups in veterinary teams. In these Global Guidelines, the PWG, working with veterinary member groups and individual members, outlines the challenges facing the profession and gathers veterinary mental health resources to assist groups and members with improving the well-being of all veterinary teams.

Dr. Debbie Stoewen, a Canadian veterinarian and member of the CVMA Wellness Committee, is one of the guidelines’ authors.
