The Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, reached out to the CVMA in January to request a meeting to discuss the Center as a result of our government relations work which has made this a topic of conversation within government.

CVMA President, Dr. Tim Arthur, CVMA CEO, Mr. Joel Neuheimer, and CVMA Immediate Past-President, Dr. Trevor Lawson, along with representatives from two of our partners on this project, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and the Canadian Hatching Egg Producers of Canada, attended a meeting with Minister MacAulay and the Chief Veterinary Officer for Canada, Dr. Mary Jane Ireland, who has also been a supporter of this project.

As the Minister was already very well informed about our ask, the meeting focused on how the project is to be carried forward. While Minister MacAulay did not make a firm commitment, it is clear that he understands the importance of a National Testing Centre.
