Less Than One Month Left to Nominate a Deserving Colleague for a 2025 CVMA Award 
Nominations are due on Friday, January 31, 2025

 "Our profession thrives because of the dedication and passion of our colleagues who make a lasting difference in veterinary medicine," says Dr. Tim Arthur, CVMA President. "We invite you to celebrate their contributions by nominating those who inspire and innovate in our field. Together, let’s honor their exceptional achievements at this year’s Awards Gala."

Each year, through its awards program, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) proudly recognizes individuals and teams who have demonstrated significant accomplishments, exemplary leadership, and tireless commitment to Canada's veterinary community.

Nominations for the 2025 CVMA Awards are accepted until Friday, January 31, 2025.

Award recipients receive complimentary registration to the 2025 CVMA convention in Victoria, British Columbia from June 25 to 29, in addition to other prizes specific to each award.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY
Award nominees (excluding those nominated for Honourary Membership) must be current CVMA members; however, they can be nominated by non-members. We invite you to consider nominating a deserving colleague for one of the following prestigious CVMA awards:

  • CVMA Honourary Membership— recognizes an individual who has rendered distinguished service to the profession, whether residing in Canada or elsewhere.
  • CVMA Humane Award (sponsored by Merck Animal Health)– recognizes leadership in the care and well-being of animals.
  • CVMA Industry Award– recognizes contributions to the advancement of veterinary medicine in industry roles.
  • CVMA Distinguished Member Award– recognizes a CVMA member for long and outstanding service on CVMA Council, Executive, Boards, and Committees or for outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession.
  • CVMA Practice of the Year Award (sponsored by Scotiabank)– recognizes a veterinary practice team for outstanding achievement within their local community.
  • Merck Veterinary Award (sponsored by Merck Animal Health) – recognizes work in large animal practice, clinical research, or basic sciences that contributes to the advancement of large animal medicine and surgery, including herd health management.
  • CVMA Small Animal Practitioner Award(sponsored by PetSecure Pet Health Insurance) – recognizes work in small animal practice, clinical research or basic sciences that contributes to the advancement of small animal medicine, surgery, or small animal practice management.

NOMINATIONS

Award recipient selection is based solely on the information provided in the nomination package.

Please submit nominations directly through the CVMA website here.

Include the following supporting documents as part of the nomination submission:

  • Outline of nominee’s key professional accomplishments (maximum 1,000 words)
  • Letters of support (maximum of five letters; 500 words each)
  • Articles written by nominee (if applicable; maximum of three articles)
  • Newspaper articles (if applicable; maximum of two articles written within the last two years)

Nomination submissions are due by Friday, January 31, 2025.
