CVMA Wellness Program Naming Contest Winner

We are truly blown away by the time, effort, and creativity our veterinary community poured into the contest to name our CVMA national Wellness, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Program.
We received over 30 entries, which were evaluated by a diverse panel of five esteemed CVMA members using an innovative and careful scoring system designed for fairness. The system incorporated both qualitative and quantitative factors, assessing each entry based on relevance, memorability, inspirational value, and length.
R.I.S.E.
Resilience, Inclusion, Support, Empowerment
We’re proud to introduce R.I.S.E.: Resilience, Inclusion, Support, Empowerment, and Résilience, Inclusion, Soutien, Épanouissement as the winning name achieving an impressive 162 points out of 175, scoring highly across all four criteria.
R.I.S.E., and its French equivalent, directly supports the core components of the program by fostering an environment where resilience, inclusion, support, and empowerment are interwoven, leading to veterinarians' personal well-being, protection from psychological and moral injury, and a sense of joy and meaningful accomplishment in their work. This holistic approach not only helps them Get Well and Be Well, but also ensures they feel valued, connected, and celebrated.
Congratulations to Dr. Marnie Ford, our winner! It’s clear Dr. Ford put her heart and imagination into a name that inspires, connects, and resonates.
Dr. Ford speaks about resiliency and turning challenges into growth: “To me, resiliency and thriving mean embracing life's emotional and physical challenges as difficult but valuable lessons. I've learned to view the costs of these challenges as tuition, teaching me to become more resilient and ultimately helping me thrive.”
