CVMA Welcomes New CEO
February 9, 2023
After an extensive search, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is pleased to welcome Mr. Joel Neuheimer as our new Chief Executive Officer as of February 6, 2023.
Mr. Neuheimer has over 25 years of experience in federal government advocacy, leadership, and governance. He will use these skills to further the CVMA’s goals to be seen and heard more and to foster a better understanding of veterinarians across Canada.
A lifelong dog owner, Joel recognizes the veterinarians who play various diverse roles in our communities and the economy.
Originally from Montréal, he has lived in Ottawa with his wife Tina and their three daughters for the last 22 years.
Joel holds an undergraduate degree in political science and a master’s in communications. He began his career at what was the federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and then moved to the Forest Products Association of Canada.
Joel has been a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) since 2008 and a member of the CSAE Board since October 2021.
He is determined to deliver on the CVMA's vision, mission, and priorities which underpin our ambition of embodying, "One profession. One strong voice."
Joel enjoys spending time at his cottage and volunteering as a minor hockey coach in his free time.
As we welcome Joel into this role, we, once again, extend our utmost thanks to Mr. Jost am Rhyn for his 21 years of dedicated service to the CVMA.
