CVMA Committee Vacancy: Professional Development Committee (PDC)

The CVMA is looking for members who are interested in filling one vacancy on its Professional Development Committee (PDC).

Mandate

Under the guidance of and having responsibility to the Council of the CVMA, the PDC:

  • Addresses post-graduation continuing education trends and issues to develop and implement the CVMA annual convention and other CE activities.
  • Regularly review trends in professional development and propose new ideas to keep the experience for the veterinary team current with changes in veterinary medicine.
  • Provide guidance towards the new graduate program and services (CVMA Emerging Leaders Program)

Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate must be a CVMA member:

  • Who is actively involved in veterinary medicine.
  • Who is committed to and has experience towards professional development.
  • Who is a practicing veterinarian

Time Commitment / Working Relationship / Term of Office

The time commitment to serve on the PDC includes:

  • One annual committee meeting – usually held in Ottawa, over two days in the early spring. Responsibilities include reviewing reports for the current year and preparing the scientific program for the following year.
  • Two virtual meetings per year when required (1.5 hours each)

CVMA staff, as delegated by the Chief Executive Officer, facilitates the ongoing operations of the PDC.

Appointments are made annually for a one-year term (renewable). It is recommended that members be ready to serve one to two 3-year terms.
