CVMA Committee Vacancy: National Examining Board (NEB)

The CVMA is looking for one public member to serve on its National Examining Board (NEB). Please note that the public member cannot be a CVMA member or a veterinarian.

Mandate

The National Examining Board (NEB) operates with regards to all matters pertaining to the administration of the National Examining Board examinations. The NEB makes recommendations to CVMA Council on all other subjects involving the assessment and enhancement of veterinarians in Canada.

Role and Responsibilities

  • The individual will act as a public interest representative on the NEB.
  • The individual will bring new ideas and goals to the table as well as additional public credibility.

Experience and Skills

  • The individual will have an understanding of professional certification processes and previous experience serving on the governing or advisory board of a business or civic organization, or similar entity.
  • The individual will have the ability to ask critical questions, be curious, and be open-minded.
  • The individual will have the ability to navigate difficult conversations.

Time Commitment / Working Relationship / Term of Office

The time commitment to serve on the NEB includes:

  • Three in-person committee meetings – Meetings are held in March, June/July, and October. Tasks include reviewing meeting materials, and contributing to the meeting discussions and decision-making process.
  • Travel to the meetings is required. Meeting locations are in Canada and the US. Travel expenses are covered by the NEB.
  • Term of Office - Appointments are made annually for a one-year term (renewable).

CVMA staff, as delegated by the Chief Executive Officer, facilitate the ongoing operations of the NEB Committee.
