CVMA Attends AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference

Dr. Tracy Fisher, CVMA President-Elect, and Mr. Joel Neuheimer, CVMA CEO, travelled to Chicago in January to attend the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Veterinary Leadership Conference and Winter Meeting which hosted 800 participants.
The meetings proved to be very productive and generated a number of contacts the CVMA will look to collaborate with in the future. A CE session on engaging volunteers was particularly interesting, with key messages focusing on forming positive experiences for volunteers interacting with organizations, providing clear goals and objectives, and the effectiveness of engaging volunteers for short periods of time.
Some highlights of the discussions that took place include:
- AVMA’s approach to corporate practices
- Mid-level practitioner role in Colorado
- Canadian Council of Veterinary Registrars’ Limited Licensure Project
- DEI programs
- Insurance
The CVMA is grateful to the AVMA for providing a forum to collaborate, educate, and advocate for the veterinary profession.
