Complete the CVMA’s Sustainability Survey for a Chance to Win

March 28, 2025

Dear Colleagues,

As veterinary professionals, we play a vital role in advancing One Health and One Welfare, where animal, human, and ecosystem health and wellness intersect. While our work contributes to solutions for complex challenges like the climate crisis, it's important to recognize that veterinary clinics also contribute to environmental impacts — through greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, resource consumption, and more.

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is committed to advancing meaningful progress in this regard through the launch of the Sustainable Veterinary Practice Initiative (SVPI), designed to empower veterinary teams in promoting environmental sustainability at both clinic and community levels. A key component of this initiative is exploring the development of a national certification program that will support veterinary clinics in adopting and demonstrating environmentally sustainable practices.

We need your insights. Participating in this brief 10-minute survey will help us understand:

  • Your awareness and interest in environmental sustainability as it is relevant to your regular work.
  • The support required to adopt environmentally sustainable practices in your clinic.
  • Your perspective on a potential national certification program for sustainable veterinary practices.

As a thank you, participants who complete the survey by April 11, 2025, will be entered into a draw to win a $100 gift card of their choice.

Additionally, respondents who submit a PowerPoint slide or similar summary sharing "their story" of adopting environmentally sustainable practices in their clinic will have the chance to win one of two additional $100 gift cards. Submissions can be sent to Dr. Shane Renwick at srenwick@cvma-acmv.org. Please see an example of a slide submission below.

Your input will guide the development of resources and programs that reflect the realities of veterinary practice in Canada.

Thank you for your time and commitment to advancing environmental sustainability in our profession.
