Life Membership is presented to a veterinarian for long and outstanding service on CVMA Council, Executive, Boards and Committees, or for outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession. Life Members are selected by Council, upon the recommendations of a committee of two senior members of the CVMA appointed by Council. The Council may not grant Life Membership to more than three people in one year. The Life Member is presented with a framed certificate and is invited to attend meetings of the association, and is not liable to pay dues, but enjoys all the rights and privileges of membership.
