  Body Scoring

When body scoring animals, it is important to palpate the animal as well as to make a visual assessment. Since different body scoring systems for the same species exist, be sure to identify the score of the affected animal(s) out of the potential range (e.g. 2/5 or 7/9). Veterinarians who are asked to act as expert witnesses should consider including a body score chart with the written report for the court.
