Mandate of the CVMA Professional Development Committee
The CVMA Professional Development Committee is established to address all “post-graduation” continuing education issues, including the CVMA Annual Convention and other programs, and recommend specific programs and action to CVMA Council.
The specific mandate of the Committee is as follows:
To recommend to CVMA Council general policies on continuing education in veterinary medicine in Canada.
To recommend to CVMA Council policies and guidelines for the CVMA Annual Convention and other continuing education activities.
To expand the CVMA continuing education programs by recommending to the CVMA Executive, subject-focused seminars on various aspects of veterinary medicine at different sites and times of the year.
To recommend a budget to CVMA Council for all continuing education activities.
To oversee the work of the Local Organizing Committee of the CVMA Annual Convention by approving the scientific and social programs.
To recommend to CVMA Executive the topics and speakers for the plenary and other special sessions at the CVMA Annual Convention.
To recommend to CVMA Council the location, dates, and themes of all CVMA continuing education activities including the annual convention.
To stay abreast of continuing education initiatives and activities within and outside of Canada.
To recommend to CVMA Council the appointment of a Local Chairperson for the CVMA Annual Convention.
