The mandate of the Business Management Committee is to support the CVMA in implementing its priority: “The Successful Practice of Veterinary Medicine” and, specifically, in introducing programs to assist veterinarians and the practice team in the sound management of their veterinary enterprises.
The responsibilities of the Committee are as follows:
Analyze the current business and economic environment of veterinarians in Canada and develop and propose strategies by which the CVMA can assist veterinarians in the effective, efficient management of their business affairs.
Develop and recommend to CVMA Council prioritized programs, activities, tools and training initiatives that will support veterinarians in the management of veterinary practices, clinics and hospitals in Canada.
Monitor and oversee CVMA projects on business management (benchmarking, training modules etc.) and make reports and recommendations to CVMA Executive on their implementation.
Oversee the business management component of the CVMA website and recommend ways to enhance its value to members.
Propose topics and speakers for the on-line training modules on veterinary management.
Identify resource persons, within and outside the veterinary profession, who can advise the Committee and the CVMA on specific management issues as required.
Propose topics for the plenary or management sessions of the CVMA conventions.
Identify issues on which information should be disseminated to appropriate segments of the profession and propose the appropriate mechanisms to reach members.
Recommend questions to the CVMA Executive for the regular “ opinion surveys".
