  How to Get Involved
About Us > Committees & Programs > How to Get Involved

Professional and technical support for the association is undertaken by the staff at the CVMA.  However, the CVMA depends on the generous and invaluable contributions of its volunteers to assist in its vital work and in the achievement of its goals and objectives.  One of the greatest challenges facing associations and other non-profit professional organizations is recruiting and retaining talented volunteers who can make a valuable contribution to the organization.

CVMA Committees, Boards, Task Forces, etc. are established by Council as required to address specific issues and to recommend action to Council. Committees, Boards, Task Forces, etc. provide annual reports to Council and may make  recommendations regarding programs and related budgetary allocations.  Committees, Boards, Task Forces, etc. do not make policy decisions nor do they direct or oversee administrative affairs of the association.

If you want to get more involved in your national association and give back to your profession, the CVMA invites you to consider volunteering on one of its many committees. For more information, you can consult the Committees & Programs section of this Web site.  If you are interested in serving on a particular committees and wish to find out the time commitment expected, please communicate with the CVMA office or contact your provincial representative on CVMA Council.

Members who wish to serve may let their name stand for nomination may do so be completing a CVMA Volunteer Form and returning it to the CVMA office.
